Filthy Martini

Wow. I'm not sure what happened yesterday except that I know I had several martinis.

-DAY 6, Labadee, Haiti-

Labadee, Haiti

We got up at 9ish I believe and had breakfast and got off the boat to Royal Caribbean's island in Haiti, Labadee.

There are tons of activities on the island including a very cool looking zipline that unfortunately costs 100$ for a 45 second ride. We decided to do the Dragon's Tail Coaster instead for $26. I thought it was a waste of money but I may have just been grumpy.

The first beach we went to was nice until you got in the water. It was very rocky and full of seaweed. At around noon we went and got daquiris from the Schooner Bar on the island (which was not as cool as the Schooner Bar on the Rhapsody of the Seas 😉) and waited for over 30 minutes in line for lunch and then they didn't even have veggie burgers ready, they said it would be another 15 minute wait. Ash and I just ate dessert and some questionable corn on the cob.

After lunch we switched beaches and went from Columbus Cove to Nellie's Beach. It was great! Very sandy and if you swam out you could see the ship. The beach part was smaller, not as many chairs, but we found a few and there were cute little palm trees.

About 2p we packed up and headed back to the ship. We saw some interesting big black birds while waiting in the security line, they were making really crazy noises. I was trying to get a video of one on my snapchat but I kept missing him make the sound.

Anywho, once back on the ship we began to get ready for dinner, another "evening chic" formal night. We met at the martini bar to get a before dinner drink and then Ash got toasted on a drink called 'Caribbean Cobbler'. It was quite good and she was quite funny. Dinner was okay, the appetizer was good, something with bleu cheese, I don't remember what they called it. A souffle maybe.

After dinner we all just putzed around until karaoke which began at 9p in the Sky Lounge. This is where it was my turn to get toasted and boy did I. The Sky Lounge is my favorite bar, they have a great bar menu as well as pages specifically for each drink package so you know what's included. They also have drinks for each of the zodiacal constellations. The bartenders were also great, I ordered a dirty martini extra dirty and when he gave it to ke he said, "your filthy martini." No one was singing so Brian and I sang Eye of the Tiger, Come Sail Away, Build Me Up Buttercup, and then later Sugar We're Going Down (by Fall Out Boy). Brian tried to get dad to sing but he ran away. As the karaoke was ending the ship band whose members we met in Jamaica began setting up to play a set; I had asked to sing Don't Stop Believing for the last song. A woman sang the second to last song and the band played a little of it I think, I got very nervous and spilled Ashley's coke all over her purse, Brian's phone, and my foot. I went up there and Jack recognized me and said hello, he's great on the guitar! So I sang and the band played, it was fun but they cut it off early sonce karaoke ran late, or maybe because I sounded awful 😂 and then I messed up the words because I was looking at the screen instead of just listening to the music. Oh well! I sang with the band!

I danced for the majority of the band's set and got a few people to get up on the dance floor. It was a very great time! After that everyone went to smoke and when I was walking out I talked to Jack for a second, he's very nice and hugged me! I came back in from outside and started chatting with some people from Sweden, they were really awesome and one of them was named Albin, I only remember this because I insisted that they all become friends with me on facebook so we can hang out when I come to Sweden. I also remember that two of the girls were called Maggie but their names were different, one was Magdalyn I think and I forget the other. At this point I was pretty wasted and I don't quite remember the rest of the night except that I went outside to find my family and they were gone so then I ended up meeting some people from Jersey and somehow at some point I made it back to the room. Thankfully the only photo I took all night was on the dance floor and it was of one of my Swedish friends with another girl in the dance floor, they both had black and white striped dresses on but one dress had vertical stripes and the other horizontal. They looked cool!

Yowza! It was fun but I'm definitely paying the price today and that part is not fun.
