Our original plans were to go to Oceanario de Lisboa (the aquarium) on the day after we arrived to Lisbon, but that was one of the things we missed because of the flight changes. Our originally planed Tuesday (27 Oct) was walking the Alfama neighborhood of Lisbon but we were both a little tired so we added the aquarium back in. It was really cute! They had a gigantic tank, similar to Boston’s, but it was shorter and wider and a bit of a different shape that allowed for more viewing. We also got to see penguins and sea otters!
After the aquarium we stopped for a coffee and a sweet (inspired by Erica). Next we took the Telecabine (cable car), it glides 1230 meters over the Tagus River and about 30 meters high. Bit of a greenhouse effect going on inside the car and it was another beautiful day so a bit hot in the sun but we made it!
We walked around this neighborhood a bit, it was developed mostly for Expo ‘98, which took place in Lisbon in 1998. Our board game cafe, Wizards of the Toast, which was also in this area, was closed on Tuesdays (oops) so instead we had a beer at an irish pub and then walked to another mexican place for dinner and margaritas. We took the train back to our hotel - the train stations here are really beautiful!
Had to stop in at the old HRC to get another pin for Erica, so we had a cocktail too. After that we headed back to our hotel to enjoy a bottle of wine on the balcony!
