The One With Our First Date

Evan met me outside of the cafe, brought me in and introduced me to Bobby, and then when he was showing me the shelf of two-player games, dropped one at my feet. We started with Codenames since I was familiar with the game and while playing we talked about our lives - both of us were pretty open and conversation came easy.

Next, Evan introduced Boop and I learned that you must start every game with, “Welcome to the wonderful world of [insert game name]”. How cute is he?! Boop is a two player game about cats. While we were playing, his friend Lissy came over and brought him his favorite food, Unagi, and I learned that the mention of it in his profile was actually about sushi and not a Friends reference.

Lastly, we played Illimat, a seasonal trick-taking game made by a band, The Decemberists!

Eventually I realized that five hours had gone by and Brigid was probably worried since the last thing I said to her was, “Okay - so probably not a serial killer but just in case, im meeting evan from bumble at knight moves in brookline at 6pm.” I left her a bunch of voice messages on my hour long ride home and Evan and I talked a bit more on Bumble.

The next morning he gave me his phone number and I texted him right away - we both had had a great time and agreed to see each other again on Sunday! He told me later he had had more dates scheduled and cancelled them all :)
